The Fairy Lioness, from a story by Madame D'Aulnoy called the Benevolent Frog, is a malevolent fairy who mainly takes the form of a giant woman wearing a lion skin, with thorned club, longbow, and arrows, like a feminine Heracles; or a giant lioness. She transforms people into animals and monsters for her own amusement, and is a mighty illusionist and creator of things as well as having power over plants and animals.
