Marius is a genetically engineered organism created by secret government lab called Project Moreau. After his escape, the lawyers for the Vanguard procured his long term freedom by threatening to expose the project, but rumour has it the project continues. Given the abilities of a wide variety of marine life on a humanoid orca template, Marius was designed for oceanic warfare, but now uses his enormous strength and other powers to defend the innocent as a member of the Portland Paladins, a local sub-team of the Vanguard, under the leadership of billonaire philanthropist John Bernlad, aka the Green Knight.

He's big, and kind, and very dangerous. He's smart, but thinks more like an orca than a human. He's also enormous (over 20 feet tall) and heavy (over 6000 lbs) as well as frankly terrifying, so he does not spend much time around normal people. When not in the ocean, he stays at the Portland Paladins base, which is engineered to accomodate his needs.
