A skineater swarm is a particularly gruesome swarm of insects, made up of giant versions (still Tiny by game standards) of the Demodex skin and eyelash mite. These particular creatures have been affected by some fell process that has made them far larger and more ravenous...instead of subsisting on dead skin flakes and sebaceous oils, they cover their victims and devour the whole skin, leaving raw and oozing flesh behind.
