Description: Favonius is calm and composed, patient and kind, but judges not, nor intervenes. All things pass through his stewardship on their way to Marea, and thence to Solis. He is the collector, the psychopomp that guides souls that die far from the water to a place where they can board the ship of the Captain of Souls. He is tall, slim, not quite as gaunt as his brother Aquilo. He dresses plainly, in brown robes that cover his feet, which are never seen. When he moves, he glides, rather than walking, and seems never to touch the ground. As a harvest deity, he wears a messenger bag and carries a scythe. It is used to painlessly separate souls from their now vesitigal corpse. He then carefully bundles the soul, and gently places it in the bag at his waist. He only rarely speaks, and that, laconically. He appears as whatever race or species the being viewing him either is, or is most comforted by.
History: The Winds are the last-born of the true Gods, and Favonius is the last-born of the Winds. Despite this, his is a history of compassion and wisdom. Since the first mortal walked the world, Favonius has gathered them into his arms and carried them into the next world with love and kindness regardless of their species, their actions, anything. Swifter than any but Vulpos, he often acts as messenger of the gods.
Relationships: He is loved and respected by most, and treated with greater reverence than his young age would suggest. He is closest, besides to his fellow winds and mother, to Marea and Solis, as fellow gods of death. He is disdainful of Interitus and his get, but does not judge or actively oppose them. He dearly loves his brother Aquilo, but wishes he had more compassion.
Realm: The Empty Field, at the foot of Aula Dei, where the rivers of Marea flow into the Underworld where Solis reigns.
Rituals: He is invoked in last rites, as well as regularly when death is expected soon, just in case. He accepts no sacrifice. He does not intervene.
Holy Days: Every day of life is holy.
Commandments:
As a Wind, he gives no commandments, and has only three tenets:
Live each day as if it were your last, because one day, it will be.
Love all things. Compassion requires understanding, but not agreement.
Remember that all fear death, and soothe those who near its door.
Orders:
The Brown Friars, who tend to graves, assist in harvests, and perform last rites. They sing the dying to sleep, and their souls into the hands of Favonius.
