Description: Tall, broad, strong. Almost as strong as his father, Saevios. Dark curly hair covers his chest and forearms, and long curly auburn hair adorns his head. Thick mutton chop sideburns frame a broad face and square jaw. He wears no helm, and is often unarmed, though he is skilled with every weapon, and using anything near him as a weapon at need. His only armor is the impenetrable hide of the Arkean Great Bear, that he slew as his first Trial, its head adorning one shoulder, its red brown fur matching his own hair. A short purple kilt wraps his waist, with 9 leather disc covered strips protecting his groin in Regan fashion. High laced sandals with hobnails adorn his feet. A broad gladiator's belt secures the hide to his midsection, and supports the kilt and balteus or cingulum.

History: Magnus was born a child of the royal line of Rega, direct descendant of Regulus himself, late in the Republic, when the Kingship had become purely ceremonial. He was not heir, in any case, as his mother was not firstborn. Nor was it initially obvious that he was a demigod. By this time, Saevios had become more discrete about his dalliances with mortals, and had taken the form of a mortal man to woo Magnus' mother. However, when Magnus was age three, a trio of serpentfolk assassins dedicated to Interitus made their way into the palace, in an attempt to kill as many of the royal line as possible to remove the blood of Saevios from the world. Unfortunately for them, they got only Magnus' nursemaid...and made the toddler angry for the first real time. The power of his rage gave him the strength of his father, and he killed all three assassins with his bare hands. Across the rest of his life, he had many adventures, including his famous Nine Trials, capped off by being granted the title of Imperator for life after he commanded the Alliance of Arkea in its successful defense against the barbarians and monstrous hordes sent against it by Interitus and his dark gods in the War of Serpent's Rage. Thus began the Regan Empire, which he ruled wisely and well for several centuries before he was lured into a trap and ambushed by over 100 serpentfolk and kobolds led by a red dragon, and finally killed. As he gasped his last breath, his father granted him Apotheosis. Before his death, he established the custom of choosing, with the help of the Senate, the best possible heir and adopting them. He had many children of his own body, but none of them ever ascended to the throne.

Relationships: As both youngest of the Demigods, and the greatest hero of the Regan people, Magnus occupies a strange position in the divine family. Many who are much older and more powerful nonetheless hold him in very high regard. Solis thinks him an arrogant fool. The more peaceful among his kin think him bloodthirsty and domineering. Saevios and Ignia could not be more proud. Aquilo hates him bitterly, and Anona just wishes he would calm down. Interitus hates him almost as much as he hates Saevios. Magnus himself...well, he is friendly to all, direct, boisterous, rowdy. All of which belies his extraordinarily keen mind. He and Regulus feel similarly about Rega and the defense of mortals, and wish to be allowed to take the fight to the enemy to protect them.

Realm: Magnus holds the title of Deus Dux Bellorum, commander of the Legions of the Gods, and spends much of his time drilling and training with the celestial host, hoping to be unleashed on Interitus and his minions.

Rituals: Magnus is honored most by warriors, and especially honored during a warrior's first righteous kill, with a libation of mead and ritual painting of the warrior's face with the blood of the enemy. He is prayed to for strength, for cleverness, for success in war.

Holy Days: Imperius, near the end of the third month of the year, the anniversary of his having been granted the title of Imperator for life.

Commandments:

As a demigod, Magnus has no commandments, and only three tenets:

Live life to the fullest.

Unleash righteous wrath only on those who deserve it.

Fortune favors the bold.

Orders: The Order of the Wrathful Bear initiates young warriors, and trains berserkers to channel their rage constructively, so as not to be slaves to it. They wear bearskin cloaks, and little else.
