The Krampus
A dark and terrible figure, the Krampus is like the evil shadow of good old Santa. A large, goat like man with horns and hooves, he wears and bears chains to bind with, and a birch switch in his hand. He beats and terrifies naughty children, and totes them away in the basket on his back, to be eaten or worse. To a being as old as him, we are all children . . . and we are all naughty. Santa can usually keep him in check, but sometimes he breaks free, and sometimes he even captures Santa, putting Christmas itself at risk. He is served by lesser goatmen as well.
