Jack's Giant of the Week: Thunderdell
This is a new series where I provide some info and stats for famous giants from folklore and myth, especially the Jack tales, all gussied up for use in DnD5e. See my supplement “the Fomor Folio” for more gianty goodness.
“Roight. So this big dumb bastard tried to ambush me at a fancy dinner like, that they’d put on in me honor f’r killin’ other giants. Summat about revenge, he said. ‘Twas a tough fight, but I tricked him out into the courtyard and got i’m bent over, then took off both heads with the drawbridge. But the multiverse is big, and he’s probaly out there alive somewhere, so check this profile out f’r strengths and weaknesses, aye?”
Thunderdell, also known as Taranau in Welsh, was a dangerous two headed giant in Cornwall. It is said that he crashed a banquet being held for Jack the Giantkiller, in order to avenge the death of two other giants Jack had slain. Some stories said he hailed from the north pole. Here I have kept his essential two headed nature, like an ettin, and combined it with his name and possible origin to make, perhaps , a surprising foe.
Yes, he’s a strength based caster and can cast a spell and hit people the same turn. I factored it into his CR, I promise.:)
