Jack's Giant of the Week: Ysbaddaden

"Oi din't kill this one, sadly, though I did sneak in an' kill his cannibal sons later. A real sick bastard, of Balor's line, venomous and evil."

The giant Ysbaddaden was a cruel king, and the father

of the fair Olwen, sought as a bride by the hero

Culhwch from Welsh Arthurian tales. While the stories

say he wielded a poison dart, I have here made him a

Fomor, and a descendant of Balor, with a poisonous

gaze of his own because of the similarity in how he

had to hold his eyebrows open with a a prop. In

addition, due to other art, I have given him a very

dangerous sword. Interestingly, two of his sons, also

giants, are killed by cunning by an unnamed hero . . . I

believe that hero to be Jack, as he was part of Arthur's

court at the same time, and it's his modus operandi.
